Influenza (the flu) spreads easily during the colder months and can cause serious illness. Getting vaccinated each year is the best way to reduce your risk of getting sick or passing the flu to others.

Our trained pharmacist vaccinators provide safe, convenient flu vaccinations to help keep the Stratford community protected during the 2026 flu season.

Who should get a flu vaccine?
Annual flu vaccination is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and over.

Free (Funded) Flu Vaccines
The flu vaccine is free for people who meet the funded eligibility criteria in New Zealand, including:

  • Adults 65 years and over

  • Pregnant people

  • People with certain long-term medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, or other chronic illnesses

  • People with serious mental health conditions

  • Children aged 4 years and under who have been hospitalised for respiratory illness or have a history of significant respiratory disease

Eligibility criteria are determined by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora.

You can still receive a private flu vaccination at Stratford Pharmacy. Our pharmacy team can provide advice and vaccination appointments to help keep you protected. Available for $35 per dose.
